StereoPhoto Maker on Windows 11: What to Expect
StereoPhoto Maker is a portable Windows program, and it runs on Windows 11 the same way it runs on earlier Windows: unzip, run the EXE. The author has not published a Windows-11-specific statement, so this page sticks to what the program’s design guarantees and what Windows 11 itself will show you.
Running SPM on Windows 11
- Download the official v6.41 ZIP from the download page and extract it fully.
- Keep the EXE and its spphotolib DLL in the same folder.
- Run the 64-bit Pro build (on any 64-bit Windows 11) or the 32-bit build on older hardware.
- No installation, no admin rights, and no runtime packages are required — the package is just the program and its DLL.
The SmartScreen prompt
Windows 11 shows a SmartScreen prompt for many small unsigned freeware programs on first run. That prompt is Windows being cautious about provenance, which is why the download page publishes SHA-256 hashes: verify the file in a terminal with certutil -hashfile and you know the file is the author’s, prompt or no prompt. The fuller story is in the false-positive guide.
Display scaling
Windows 11 laptops often run 125–150% scaling. SPM’s long-lived interface mostly copes, but its largest dialog — Multi Conversion — can overflow small scaled screens. Workarounds: dialog cut-off fixes.
Windows on ARM
On ARM-based Windows 11 machines, the x86 builds run under Windows’ emulation where available. The author has not published ARM-specific guidance, so treat that route as untested and keep expectations accordingly.
